We've all thought about improving our appearance. Maybe losing weight, trying a new look with a different hairstyle, makeup or outfits. But have we ever thought that our home might need to lose weight? That our home might need a new look?
Sharon Kreighbaum, owner of Staged Makeovers is currently working on a new book, "Put Your House on the Staged Makeovers' Diet." This book reminds us not to get attached to "stuff," but rather cherish memories instead. For those of us who need to shed a few house pounds by getting rid of unnecessary furniture, collections, souvenirs and gifts, Sharon suggests taking pictures of the unnecessary items and then recycling them. It's a great way to begin the house diet. In fact the house diet is all about recycling.
What do you have in your house that you don't use or enjoy anymore and can share with someone else? How to share you may ask? Give it to someone who needs it, or sell it to someone who wants it. Either way you are recycling. Good for you. Good for others. Good for our planet.
Sharon has recipes for low-fat rooms. Each recipe reminds us of the purpose of each room and gives ingredients for a low-fat version. She'll teach you what is meant by "less is more, bigger is better and live like you're on vacation." Soon she'll be feeding you sections of the book on her website, www.stagedmakeovers.com.
